Going Stronger! Wizkid’s ‘Star Boy Entertainment Signs First Act – Maleek Berry
It’s true, stronger and here to stay! Slowly it marches and grows, ready to bulldoze all who stand in its way. It’s deadly, on point and it has Wizkid smelling all over it. It is Star Boy Entertainment, and they’ve just made their first statement.
By signing Maleek Berry…the producer.
For those of you who thought that Star Boy Entertainment, Wizkid’s relatively new record label is just a tool to bend the arm of the powers that be at EME Music, then you seriously should ditch that notion because Wizkid has announced the signing of his first act, Maleek Berry, the producer of his hit single, The Matter.
Maleek Berry is a highly sought-after Nigerian producer based out in the UK and is responsible for such hits as Wizkid‘s “The Matter” & “Lagos To Soweto”, Wande Coal’s “My Way”, Davido‘s “Video” & “Enter The Centre” and most notably, Sinzu‘s “Carolina”.
Wizkid announced the big news via Twitter.

Hot Combo! Wale And Wizkid To Combine In New Album

                    Wale1
Mix it, old and new…
Nigerian-born rapper Wale has announced that Nigerian thoroughbred Wizkid will feature on his forthcoming album ‘The Gifted’ scheduled for release on June 25, 2013.
The Maybach Music Group ensign revealed this a few weeks ago on Twitter while dropping some hints on how his new album would sound.
Best believe I got some new music for that green white green on my new album.. Ask @wizkidayo‘, @Wale wrote.
This comes as a bit of a follow-up on Wale’s declaration that Wizkid is his favourite African artiste.
The pair must done some lyrical romance in the studio last year; because Wizkid also disclosed in an interview with OK! Magazine that he had enlisted Wale’s artistry on his upcoming mixtape.

Banky And Wizkid Break Their Vows…As Wizkid Launches New Label

bw Till death do us part? Obviously not in Naija music.

Slowly the floating rumors are beginning to make sense as the alleged rift between Banky W and Wizkid continue to serve us tangible proof. Banky W earlier this week released the official track-list for his fourth solo album, ‘R & BW’. The album features top EME lyrical lieutenants such as Skales, Niyola and Shaydee, with a sprinkling of cameo acts from rappers Lynxxx,Vector, elDee, M.I, L-Tido, Sarkodie, and singers Sammy, Rotimi, and 2face Idibia. In all of this, one name was surprisingly absent. Wizkid. Not even a mention of him.

On the other side, Wizkid who has been on a tour of the UK for weeks on end released a post-EME video which is a collaborative feature production from UK based Maleek Berry. The song is titled ‘the matter’. The video is signed by a strange label, ‘Starboy Ent.’, which is allegedly owned by Wizkid. No EME logo, no EME vocal.

Notwithstanding these occurrences, Banky W still maintains that Wizkid is still a part of EME. But some sources say the final confirmation await on Friday, the 15th of February as Banky W’s Grand Love Concert holds in lagos. Wizkid though is set to be absent due to the premier of his  new ‘Azonto’ video on the same day, and his scheduled performance at  Julius Agwu’s ‘Festival of Love’ the day after.

Is this the end of another stunning partnership or should we in secret, nurture hope for a reunion? Only time has the answer.
